The stairwell system is an interesting combination of steel and wood. The lower stairs and landing are made out of wood and the upper stairs are made out of part wood and part steel. The handrails are steel. The stair treads (the part you step on) are made out of pieces of wood beams. The existing building is so solid we figured it deserved something substantial.
